PVC AUS 2018
„Shaping the future of PVC“ in Australia at the PVC AUS 2018 conference
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Vinyl Council of Australia (VCA) organized the PVC AUS 2018 conference in Sydney from March 13-15. The biennial event brings together members of the PVC industry from the region and beyond.
According to the Council’s Chief Executive, Sophi Macmillan, this year’s conference was a huge success and attracted nearly 150 attendees.
Speakers representing companies and organizations from around the world shared the latest developments in PVC formulations and processing, as well as best practice manufacturing techniques, which demonstrated the sector’s commitment to continuous improvement.
Long-standing VCA member Baerlocher sponsored the reception to welcome the attendees and celebrate the 20th anniversary of the council. Sethu Palaniappan, Managing Director of Baerlocher Malaysia, which serves the Australian market, spoke during the reception.
Dane Tallen, Technical Sales Manager of Baerlocher UK, gave a very well-received presentation titled “Calcium based solutions for injection molding – can one size really fit all?” Tallen explained how calcium-based solutions could provide cost-effective and sustainable solutions for injection-molding applications.
Summarizing the success of the PVC AUS 2018 for Baerlocher, Palaniappan said, “Once again, the conference was an excellent and well-attended event and the perfect opportunity to further strengthen Baerlocher's position in Australia.”
The Australian PVC market had virtually completed the transition to calcium-based stabilizers by 2002. The PVC industry already largely complies with its Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Charter and runs various recycling initiatives, in particular for vinyl flooring and medical equipment.
